1968-69: Scouting reports said, “Good hit, amazing arm, bad attitude.” 1970-71: Went to college, used amazing arm to effect track scholarship (threw javelin 84.7 meters) and two arrests (threw “objects” at police officers). 1972: Hired by The Burbank Studios as a floor coverer. Installed carpet, tile, and linoleum in the Columbia/Screen Gems Building. My first film-set floor covering experience was on “The Partridge Family.” 1973-2005: Worked a couple commercials, television pilots/series/MOW’s/mini-series, and features as a Property Person, Lead Person, Assistant Property Master, Property Master, and On-Set Set Dresser. Upon occasion, I also served as, both, an officer and a delegate of Local 44. (*NOTE: Some believe I hold the all-time world record for distance in the “Director’s Chair Toss” – it cleared a 40’ production trailer AND the tractor… lengthwise.) Highlights: I worked two days with Bing Crosby. I literally “bumped into” George Harrison. I pushed Joel Silver off my fully raised lift gate. While on-location, I saw lightning strike the ground; I saw a volcano “blow;” and I saw the most powerful Pacific storm of the last 120 years. I worked the historic ‘live telecast’ of “ER” both on-camera and behind the scenes – (thank you, Beverly). I tried to effect positive change within Local 44 and the IATSE. 2006-Present: What can I say? The scouts may have been right. |
