We are heartbroken to report the passing of Corey Mitchell from our Local 44. He unexpectedly left us on Monday, April 23, 2018, after a long tough road that he valiantly fought. Corey had a life-changing accident back in November and was left with injuries to his brain, neck, wrist (among others), leaving him unable to live the life he had previously. Without being able to work or bike and the mounting hospital bills, he was beyond overwhelmed. Due to his brain injury, he was unable to see life as he had before. He leaves behind two beautiful children, Cassidy and Grant, who were the light of his life. Corey worked as a carpenter/prop maker for close to 20 years. He also was a master cabinet builder. Any free moment he had was spent cycling, mountain bike riding, dirt bike riding or camping in Mammoth.
Corey will always be remembered for his unselfish love for his kids, his incredible work ethic, and his friendship. He was always there for anybody in their time of need. His kids now have a huge void and anyone who finds it in their heart to help, a gofundme was set up by Katie Bomar Calnan to help support his kids.
His celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 9th from 5pm- ? at the Leona Valley Community Center in Leona Valley. We are going to remember all the happy times with him. Anyone who has any pictures with him or of him, if you could scan and send to kmitchell30@mail.com. I am planning a celebration worthy of Corey. Please check out my Facebook event I posted "Corey Mitchell's Celebration of Life" for more details. (Katie Boissier Mitchell) We hope you are able to come and celebrate with us.
