Guy Allan MacLaury, known to all as Al, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 15th, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, three devoted children and 4, soon-to-be 5, rambunctious grandchildren. Al is remembered as many things; husband, father, devout Christain, carpenter, historian, wordsmith and Frank Sinatra lover. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family and faith.

Al was born in June of 1949 on Long Island, New York. He spent his childhood stirring up trouble wherever he could. His youth on the East Coast created within him a passion for the woods, salty air and adventure. It was this same adventure that spurred him to move out west, where his life took shape and in time guided him towards his future career and his eventual wife.

In his 20’s, Al began working for the studios in Hollywood, California. For over 30 years, Al worked on numerous TV shows and movies including; Spaceballs, Naked Gun 2 ½, To Be or Not to Be, Bugsy, and his personal favorite and point of pride, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.

In 1980, Al met and within months married the love of his life; Diane MacLaury. This April would have been 40 years of a strong marriage. Till the day they parted, Al and Diane were inseparable. They loved each other fiercely, laughed often and have always been and will remain the quintessential example of what love on earth is.

In 2011, Al “retired” but kept his hands busy with his carpentry skills. The family often jokes that although he is not here, he is everywhere because of what he left behind; ornate cabinets, custom game board sets, oak doors and walnut tables, words of wisdom and unforgettable memories. Al will be missed by all and all will remember him for what he was and what he is.
