Michael was born in Missouri and spent much of his childhood in the Ballard community. From his earliest years, he was clever and inquisitive, enjoying every opportunity to learn how things worked and finding ways to make them work better.
Michael loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting turkey and deer, often rising early in the morning to experience daybreak in his tree stand. He enjoyed computers and video games, always seeming to find time to play patiently with his siblings. He also played basketball on the Ballard High School team and was a member of 4-H. He loved sailing with his mother and brothers, Zach and Ian, in California. Being on the water seemed to satisfy his adventurous spirit and forged a strong bond with his older brothers.
He didn’t mind hard work, often helping his dad around the farm or working on plumbing projects. His fascination with electronics led him to pursue an education at Electronics Institute, resulting in a job working for AT&T in network operations in Kansas City.
Michael’s passion for adventure led him to Los Angeles to follow his dream of working in film. In a short time he accomplished what some people work hard for and never achieve. He became a part of the Local 44 union, started a business of making retractable props, such as knives, pens and syringes. He started ‘Lita Von Zane’ with his fiancé Carola, a bikini and jewelry line. He lived in Puerto Rico and was the production designer for Zapatos Prestados, a Ricky Martin short film.
He wrote a script, Miguelito, about a boy from Puerto Rico who falls in love with a traveling contortionist and follows his heart. The script is in development, he planned to direct it into a feature film.
His endurance, patience, handiness, and hard work made people in the film industry take notice and hire him repeatedly. Some of the films he worked on include: Star Trek (2009) (prop-maker), Hotel California (2008) (property master), Shoot ‘Em Up (2007) (property buyer), Charlie Bartlett (2007) (property buyer), and was on the set of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.
Michael loved people, animals, especially his pets, history, and appreciated beauty. He was a perfectionist in his craftsmanship and everything that had his name attached to it.
He was honestly the most giving person. When people would ask too much of him he would give it and keep giving. He was gentle, observant, and although quiet he would always tell you the truth, call you out on your behavior and tease you about being ridiculous.
Michael and his fiancé Carola were very much in love and were making plans to marry and have a family of their own. He was excited about their future together.
Michael left all of the lives he touched some big generous gifts. He taught us to love unconditionally, to be ourselves, to not worry about the unimportant things, and to put up with the idiosyncrasies of us!
He is remembered by his mother Pamala Meade; father John Meade; fiancé Carola Gonzalez; stepmother Lisa Meade; stepfather Patrick Culp; siblings Tricia, Zachary, Ian, Jacob, Stuart, and Amber Meade; grandparents Nadine Meade, Ralph and Martha Bauman and Ellen Wry; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; the Gonzales family in Puerto Rico; pets Indy, Djambey and Pepper; and his many friends that love and miss him.
The Meade family and fiancé Carola Gonzalez are creating an account aimed at funding the filming of “Miguelito” as screen play written by Michael and Carola. This film is supported by the Puerto Rican Film Commission and will be a LGD Film Company production,
