A celebration of life will be held at the Union Hall
Friday, December 18th
from Noon to 2:00PM
Our family has lost a precious sister. When you called the Hall, often the phone was answered with the almost sung greeting, “Local 44, this is Joann, can I help you?” Joann Hicks was one of THE voices you associated with Local 44. Her greeting was not just something to say when she answered the phone. It was her personal mission statement. It was her goal to help everyone she encountered, every day. As a Callboard Steward it was her responsibility to help members find work. Joann extended that to helping members find scholarship resources for themselves and their children, financial assistance during times of hardship, and managing the Local 44 Food Bank.
Joann was the definition of a proud mother for good reason. She would share her recounts of Sarah’s performances and auditions to anyone who would listen. And, everyone wanted to listen because of the pure love and pride that she exuded when she told the story.
It is with the deepest sorrow that we say goodbye to such a pure heart.
Joann Hicks will be missed. She will also be most fondly remembered.
