IATSE, “BIGGEST LOSER” PRODUCERS REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT
Los Angeles – Both the IATSE and the producers of “The Biggest Loser” are pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached ending a week-long strike by the IA against the Reveille program.
Production on the hit NBC show shut down temporarily Monday, Nov. 8, after members of the production crew voted to support the IA. Intensive talks took place during the week and over the weekend and the new agreement was ratified by the crew in a meeting this morning. As previously reported, AFTRA and DGA already have agreements with the production.
Crew and members of other IA locals have been picketing at the Calabasas location of the show since Tuesday, although production continued during the picketing.
Mike Miller, Vice President of the IA and Director of its Motion Picture and Television Division said, “This agreement is a positive step forward for the crew of ‘The Biggest Loser,’ especially in the area of health benefits. We are pleased to see them go back to work.” Lee Rierson, Managing Director and Head of Business and Operations for Reveille said, “We have reached a fair agreement with the IA while managing to avoid significant disruption to the production, and are happy to see our entire crew working together again.”
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada, AFL-CIO, CLC (IATSE) is one of the largest entertainment labor unions in the world and represents over 110,000 technicians, artisans and craftspeople employed in stagecraft, motion picture and television production, the trade show industry, and affiliated crafts throughout the United States, Its Territories and Canada.

Local 44, 80,729 & 728 gathered together for the 10th annual family picnic September 28th, 2008. It was a beautiful day at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu where all the back lot local families dropped by to sing with a live band, ride the mechanical bull, hang out with old friends or just indulge in some good ol' fashion BBQ. Not to mention our famous raffle where members walked away with everything from a 32 inch flat screen TV and power tools, to premier Lakers, Clippers and LA Kings tickets. Fun was had by all. To sneak a peak or just to relive the day feel free to visit our photo gallery!
We recognize the holiday season is a busy time for everyone, so here is a reminder of the 2024 Dues Schedule.
Local 44 is always proud of the professionalism and pride that its members take in their respective crafts. It is particularly special when that hard work and dedication is recognized by others. Here is a list of members who received recognition from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (the Emmys). Congratulations to all the 2023 Emmy Nominees.
